Plot Summary |
RICHA SINGH (26) has had a normal childhood. As normal as a middle class family living
in Paschim Vihar, Delhi can get. The oldest daughter of the Singh family, realised her passion
for dance very early in life, and pursued it with all her dedication. She now has a dance
troupe of her own, along with her best friend Bubbles. Richas reels and videos garner
impressive views and likes, something that gives her great satisfaction. Her goal is to become
a choreographer, but life throws a spanner in the works.
Richa hadnt even thought of marriage when Diwakar walked into her life. He was sweet and
awkward which made him endearing to her. All men of the family are doctors, as modern as
one can get. So she didn’t resist when the families fixed the wedding, in-fact she looked
forward to her new life in a bigger house. She was going to be a doctors wife. A tender love
story begins to brew, and thus begins the adventure of marriage.
Chatt mangni patt byaah happens, where the bride and groom are subjected to the absurdities
of Indian wedding rituals. Richa is brought into this very new and alien household, by
kicking the chawal kalash... with her left leg. She is immediately reprimanded- left is unholy,
right is godly.
All the glitters is not gold and all that looks modular in the kitchen is not modern. The first
night is unfilmy, unromantic but sweet. From the next day itself, the domestic routine of the
Kumar household begins to take over the sweet bliss of their new marriage. The newly wed
bahu needs to make halwa as per tradition, pointed out by the energetic Saanvi, the daughter
of the sweeper at Kumars clinic downstairs. Saanvi becomes Richas little ray of sunlight.
Richa plays along as she tries to manoeuvre and negotiate her way through this marriage and
the familys expectations. The men eat first and the women serve, left-overs are not
